This guide summarizes what guides and official reports say, and separates general advice from sourced facts.
\n
Climate and best time to visit
\n
The Philippine weather agency PAGASA divides the national climate into a rainy season from June to November and a dry season from December to May. The Siquijor provincial tourism office gives the wet season as June to October and the dry season as November to May, and recommends December to May for visiting.
\n
Visitor guides describe a dry season from about December to May and a wetter period from June to November. A climate-data site shows rain in every month, lowest around April and highest around October. Guides differ on shoulder months: some describe late October as the start of drier weather, while the monthly figures suggest rain often continues into November.
\n
Typhoon season
\n
PAGASA puts the peak of the typhoon season at July through October. Siquijor is not immune to storms, though, and they can arrive outside that window. Typhoon Odette (Rai) crossed the central Philippines in mid-December 2021, and the Philippine Information Agency reported over 4,400 damaged houses in Siquijor province (a count as of January 2022). General advice: check PAGASA bulletins before and during travel and keep flexible dates.
\n
How long to stay
\n
Several guides build their itineraries around three days, describing it as enough for beaches, waterfalls, heritage sites and marine sanctuaries without rushing. One itinerary says the main sights can be covered in two days, while others suggest a couple of extra days for a slower pace.
\n
Where to base yourself
\n
\n
San Juan: described as the main tourist hub, with beachfront stays, a number of restaurants and some nightlife.
\n
Larena: a seaport and commercial centre, often suggested for budget travelers and for easy arrival by boat.
\n
Lazi: described as a good fit for getting away from the crowds, with natural scenery.
\n
Siquijor town: the provincial capital, described as convenient for the port.
\n
\n
Getting around and sea travel
\n
Guides cover motorbike rental alongside car and public transport options; motorbike rentals are reported in Siquijor town, Larena and San Juan. Guides describe the circumferential road as largely paved and interior roads as variable, sometimes steep or unpaved. Sea access is mainly through the two seaports, in Siquijor town and Larena. Crossings can be disrupted by weather, so keep slack in the schedule; a separate article covers sea travel.
\n
Festival and holiday timing
\n
Holy Week is the best-documented peak event. Siquijor's Healing Festival is held annually during Holy Week, and news reports say tourists join the island's Lenten traditions, when folk healers (mananambal) gather ingredients and prepare traditional remedies. Easter Sunday in 2027 falls on March 28, so Holy Week 2027 will be in late March. General advice: book early and expect busier roads and ferries around that time.
\n
Health and safety basics
\n
General advice unless a source is mentioned: use sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water, as sun exposure builds quickly in the tropics.
\n
\n
Reef etiquette: do not touch, stand on or collect coral or marine life. At least one sanctuary, Tulapos, is reported to require a guide for snorkeling, so follow local rules and signage.
\n
Motorbikes: guides stress wearing a helmet, checking brakes and tires, carrying a valid license, and taking care after rain and at night. Some travel insurance excludes motorbike accidents, so check the policy.
\n
\n
Good to know
\n
\n
Dry season, roughly December to May, is the most common recommendation; one guide notes lower crowds and prices in late October, which carries more weather risk.
\n
Three days is the common guide benchmark.
\n
Entrance fees, rental prices and ferry schedules change; verify locally.
\n
","featureStartsOn":null,"featureEndsOn":null,"createdByAdministratorId":1,"status":"Published","media":[{"name":"A beach on Siquijor Island","type":"image","credit":"Gramovill · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons","creditUrl":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Siquijor_Island_Philippines.jpg","url":{"original":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-large.jpg","large":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-large.jpg","medium":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-medium.jpg","small":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-small.jpg","thumbnail":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-thumbnail.jpg"},"isDefault":true},{"name":"An outrigger boat off a Siquijor beach","type":"image","credit":"Lawrence Ruiz · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons","creditUrl":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Siquijor_Beach_01.JPG","url":{"original":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-beach-01-10250e33-large.jpg","large":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-beach-01-10250e33-large.jpg","medium":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-beach-01-10250e33-medium.jpg","small":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-beach-01-10250e33-small.jpg","thumbnail":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-beach-01-10250e33-thumbnail.jpg"}}],"createdAt":"2026-10-07T14:42:28.799Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-07T16:36:15.102Z","deletedAt":null,"createdByAdministrator":{"id":1,"username":"ynnorj","firstName":"Jronny","lastName":"Amarante","birthdate":"1990-01-01","address":null,"nationality":"Philippines","gender":"Male","type":"Administrator","imageUrl":null,"createdAt":"2026-05-30T18:07:33.311Z","updatedAt":"2026-05-30T18:07:33.311Z","deletedAt":null,"roleId":1,"permissions":null,"fullName":"Jronny Amarante","label":"Jronny Amarante","age":36,"isAdult":true,"hasActiveVisitorCard":false},"defaultImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-large.jpg","defaultThumbnailImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-thumbnail.jpg","defaultMediumImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-medium.jpg","defaultSmallImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-small.jpg","imageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/siquijor-island-philippines-95398fb6-large.jpg","excerpt":"Siquijor is small enough to be covered in a few days, but timing, base location and transport choices shape the trip.
