{"success":true,"data":{"id":57,"title":"Siquijor in Three Days: A Clockwise Loop-Road Route with a Day Inland","slug":"siquijor-in-three-days-clockwise-loop-and-interior","content":"
This route runs the loop road clockwise: the north and east coast on Day 1, the south coast on Day 2 and the interior on Day 3. It starts and ends at the Siquijor town port, which the provincial tourism office describes as the main gateway for tourists coming from Dumaguete, with a first night near Maria or Lazi and a second in San Juan. No part of the loop road is covered twice; the side roads are retraced, most of all the inland trip on Day 3, because the mountain sights lie off the loop road. Its thirteen stops are all listed on this site; confirm hours and conditions locally.
\n
How the three days are split
\n
Wikipedia's town pages give distances from Siquijor town, by the shorter way round, of about 10 km to Larena, 22 km to Enrique Villanueva and 32 km to Maria on the clockwise side, and 12 km to San Juan and 32 km to Lazi on the other side. Going clockwise, Lazi is therefore roughly 43 km from the port. Day 1 covers Larena, Enrique Villanueva and Maria, Day 2 covers Lazi and San Juan, and Day 3 turns inland. Visitors who land at Larena can join the route at the first stop of Day 1.
\n
Day 1: Larena to Maria
\n
\n
Stop 1. Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish Church (Larena Church) stands with its bell tower near the waterfront, in the town the tourism office calls the island's centre of commerce and trade, with large shops, banks and the state college. Dress modestly inside.
\n
Stop 2. Sandugan Beach lies on the loop road north of Larena town. Lonely Planet describes a long beach known for sunsets, with small resorts that rent sea kayaks, and Rough Guides lists Sandugan among the main areas for stays and names Sandugan Point as a dive site. Ask a resort about access.
\n
Stop 3. Tulapos Marine Sanctuary, in Enrique Villanueva, is named by the tourism office as a snorkeling and free-diving site, and a snorkeling-site report says visitors may not enter without a guide.
\n
Stop 4. Elena's Bakery & Pasalubong Center, in the Enrique Villanueva poblacion, is a family-run bakery that the tourism office lists as an optional stop for its otap. It suits a pasalubong break before the road to Maria.
\n
Stop 5. Salagdoong Beach, in Maria, has fine white sand and an islet that gives a vantage point over the shore, according to the tourism office. Lonely Planet notes concrete jumping platforms, on-site accommodation and a day-trip crowd, so ask about entry and conditions. Spend the first night in Maria or Lazi.
\n
\n
Day 2: Lazi to San Juan
\n
\n
Stop 6. San Isidro Labrador Parish Church and Convent (Lazi Church) dates its stone church to 1884. The tourism office notes that it keeps its hardwood floor, a rarity among Philippine churches, and Lonely Planet describes pink coral stone and timber.
\n
Stop 7. Cambugahay Falls lies just outside Lazi, says Wikivoyage, which describes three tiers suited to swimming. The tourism office calls it the island's most visited tourist destination. Expect company, and keep valuables close.
\n
Stop 8. Old Enchanted Balete Tree, in Campalanas, is believed to be home to fairies and elves, the tourism office says. Wikivoyage describes it as covered in roots and vines. It sits on the road west toward San Juan.
\n
Stop 9. Lugnason Falls, in Napo, San Juan, is reached by a paved road of about 3 km up from Tubod, says Lonely Planet, which also mentions rock jumps and a rope swing. SunStar reports a pool six to seven feet deep with no shallow end, so it suits confident swimmers. Conditions can change, so ask locally first.
\n
Stop 10. Tubod Beach is where Lonely Planet's dive wall from Paliton ends. The tourism office lists the Tubod Marine Sanctuary, near Coco Grove Beach Resort, for sea turtles and other marine life. The second night is in San Juan, where the tourism office says the island's tourism is centered.
\n
\n
Day 3: Siquijor town and the interior
\n
The tourism office's mountain itinerary opens with Cantabon Cave and then Mt. Bandilaan National Park, the order used here.
\n
\n
Stop 11. Cantabon Cave, on the north-eastern side of Mt. Bandilaan, is entered with a local guide; ask locally how to arrange one. The tourism office gives its length as about 800 m (published lengths vary), Wikivoyage suggests allowing 1.5 hours for the walk-through, and SunStar calls it physically demanding. It suits a morning, with the mountain to follow. Both this cave and the mountain have guides of their own here.
\n
Stop 12. At Mt. Bandilaan National Park, Lonely Planet says concrete steps lead about ten minutes up to a viewing platform from two marked points on the mountain road. The tourism office describes a 15 m tower with 360-degree views. Published heights run from 557 m to about 628 m.
\n
Stop 13. Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Church (Siquijor Church) belongs to the island's first parish, founded in 1783 according to the tourism office, and stands on Santa Fe Street with its bell tower nearby. It makes a last stop near the port.
\n
\n
What three days leave out
\n
Paliton Beach, Solangon Beach and Pitogo Cliff Nature Park sit on the San Juan coast and fit a slower Day 2 or a fourth day. Dive trips, a visit to a traditional healer and long beach days at Sandugan or in San Juan do not fit either.
\n
Before you go
\n
\n
Reported walk-through times for Cantabon Cave vary and water levels change after rain, so build in slack before any departure by boat.
\n
Confirm entry arrangements and opening hours for each stop, and ask about water depth before swimming or jumping.

Check which port your boat uses; Siquijor town and Larena are about 10 km apart.
\n
In Holy Week, Rough Guides cautions, accommodations can fill up quickly, which would affect both nights.
\n
","featureStartsOn":null,"featureEndsOn":null,"createdByAdministratorId":1,"status":"Published","media":[{"name":"Full-height tree, turquoise pool wall","type":"image","description":"File:Messenger creation 04B39E4B-90CA-4969-9924-8FE15AC023CC.jpg","credit":"Janine Lipat · CC BY 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons","creditUrl":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Messenger_creation_04B39E4B-90CA-4969-9924-8FE15AC023CC.jpg","isDefault":true,"url":{"original":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-large.jpg","large":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-large.jpg","medium":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-medium.jpg","small":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-small.jpg","thumbnail":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-thumbnail.jpg"}}],"createdAt":"2026-10-20T08:23:00.297Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-21T01:14:35.184Z","deletedAt":null,"defaultImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-large.jpg","defaultThumbnailImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-thumbnail.jpg","defaultMediumImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-medium.jpg","defaultSmallImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-small.jpg","imageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/messenger-creation-04b39e4b-90ca-4969-9924-8fe15ac023cc-3a61184f-large.jpg","excerpt":"This route runs the loop road clockwise: the north and east coast on Day 1, the south coast on Day 2 and the interior on Day 3.","isFeatured":false,"readingTimeInMinutes":5},"message":"Article retrieved successfully."}
