{"success":true,"data":{"id":56,"title":"Siquijor in Two Days: A Loop-Road Itinerary from Siquijor Town to Larena","slug":"siquijor-in-two-days-a-loop-road-itinerary","content":"
The loop road around Siquijor is about 75 km long and passes through all six towns, so a first visit can follow it in one direction without retracing a stretch. This itinerary starts at the port in Siquijor town, runs counterclockwise in two stages and ends in Larena, the second port town. It uses nine places listed on this site. Hours, entry arrangements and conditions change, so confirm them locally, and treat the order below as a suggestion rather than a schedule.
\n
How the two days are split
\n
Wikipedia lists Lazi as about 32 km from Siquijor town and Larena as about 10 km in the other direction, so a night in Lazi divides the loop into two stages of similar length: the west and south coast on Day 1, the east and north coast on Day 2. Maria, the next town on, is an alternative for the night, and both towns have stays listed on this site. Travelers who keep one base can run each half out and back instead, covering part of the road twice, and those who arrive in Larena can run the route in reverse. The provincial tourism office's coastal itinerary runs in the same direction.
\n
Day 1: Siquijor town, San Juan and Lazi
\n
\n
Stop 1. Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Church (Siquijor Church) is the first church many visitors meet at the pier, according to SunStar. The tourism office says its separate bell tower once served as a watchtower against invaders. It is a Catholic parish, so dress modestly.
\n
Stop 2. Paliton Beach lies in San Juan, the first town south of the capital. It has white sand, coconut palms and views of Apo Island, and a sealed side track from Paliton village leads to it. The tourism office lists it as a marine protected area and a sunset viewpoint.
\n
Stop 3. Old Enchanted Balete Tree stands beside the road in Campalanas, Lazi, with a spring-fed pool of small fish at its base. Lonely Planet puts the tree at about 400 years and the tourism office at nearly 500, so both are estimates.
\n
Stop 4. San Isidro Labrador Parish Church and Convent (Lazi Church) was declared a National Cultural Treasure in 2001. The convent faces the church, and its upper floor holds a small museum of historical photographs and old santos. Lazi Church has its own guide on this site.
\n
Stop 5. Cambugahay Falls, about 2 km north of Lazi, is a three-tiered waterfall reached down a steep stairway. Lonely Planet mentions a rope swing and advises against leaving valuables unattended. The falls have their own guide on this site. The night in Lazi or Maria comes next.
\n
\n
Day 2: Maria, Enrique Villanueva and Larena
\n
\n
Stop 6. Salagdoong Beach, about 6 km northeast of Maria according to Wikivoyage, is reached through a planted forest of molave trees. Lonely Planet gives its concrete jumping platforms as 6 to 12 m (published heights vary), and the tourism office calls the cove a weekend picnic favorite with locals. Confirm that the resort is open, and ask about tide and depth before any jump.
\n
Stop 7. Tulapos Marine Sanctuary, in Enrique Villanueva, is listed in the tourism office's marine itinerary for snorkeling among giant clams, barracuda and sea turtles; clams can also be seen at low tide without entering the water. A snorkeling-site report says guides are compulsory and booked at a hut by the entrance. Tulapos is also covered in the snorkeling and diving guide on this site.
\n
Stop 8. Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish Church (Larena Church) and its bell tower stand near Larena's waterfront. Larena was the provincial capital until the early 1970s. It is a working parish, so check Mass times before going in.
\n
Stop 9. Larena Triad is a hilltop cafe in Nonoc, above Larena. The tourism office says it overlooks Larena with views toward Negros, Cebu and Bohol and lists pastries including the Siquijor torta, and SunStar recommends it for sunset photos. It suits the end of the day, and the port in Siquijor town is about 10 km back along the north coast.
\n
\n
What two days leave out
\n
The interior is the largest gap. Mt. Bandilaan National Park and Cantabon Cave lie off the coastal road, and the cave is entered only with a guide, with a walk-through that Wikivoyage estimates at 90 minutes. In San Juan the route skips Solangon Beach, Tubod Beach, Lugnason Falls and Pitogo Cliff Nature Park, and it leaves out diving days, visits to traditional healers and Elena's Bakery & Pasalubong Center in Enrique Villanueva. A third day can add the interior and more of San Juan.
\n
Before you go
\n
\n
Confirm opening hours, entry arrangements and sea and road conditions locally.
\n
The tourism office's visitor reminders ask for decent clothing in churches and for valuables not to be left unattended, and state that smoking in public places, especially at the beach, is prohibited. It also describes Siquijor as a zero-waste province where single-use plastic is prohibited, so carry a refillable bottle.
\n
Check which port your boat uses; Siquijor town and Larena are about 10 km apart.
\n
Rough Guides warns that accommodations can fill up quickly in Holy Week, so book the night in Lazi or Maria early then.
\n
","featureStartsOn":null,"featureEndsOn":null,"createdByAdministratorId":1,"status":"Published","media":[{"name":"Lazi Church (San Isidro Labrador Church), Lazi, Siquijor","type":"image","credit":"Allan Jay Quesada · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons","creditUrl":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Allan_Jay_Quesada_Lazi_Church_DSC_4196.jpg","url":{"original":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-large.jpg","large":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-large.jpg","medium":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-medium.jpg","small":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-small.jpg","thumbnail":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-thumbnail.jpg"},"isDefault":true,"description":"San Isidro Labrador Parish Church and Convent (Lazi Church)"}],"createdAt":"2026-10-20T08:23:01.297Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-21T01:14:35.184Z","deletedAt":null,"defaultImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-large.jpg","defaultThumbnailImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-thumbnail.jpg","defaultMediumImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-medium.jpg","defaultSmallImageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-small.jpg","imageUrl":"https://srptrblsouylufxnqvxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/siquijor/images/commons/allan-jay-quesada-lazi-church-dsc-4196-f8ee0c70-large.jpg","excerpt":"The loop road around Siquijor is about 75 km long and passes through all six towns, so a first visit can follow it in one direction without retracing a stretch.","isFeatured":false,"readingTimeInMinutes":5},"message":"Article retrieved successfully."}
