The Dilaab Festival is the festival of the Municipality of Siquijor and is held for the town fiesta in honor of its patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is October 4. Festivities may begin in the days leading up to the feast; the provincial government's festival listing places the festival in the first week of October.
The provincial government links the name Dilaab to the island's old nickname, Isla del Fuego (island of fire), given by the Spaniards because of the swarms of fireflies seen at night, and to the hospitality Siquijodnons are known for. Street dancing is part of the celebration.
Visitor note: the program varies from year to year and is set by the local government and parish, so confirm the festival days and activities locally before planning a visit.
