Larena celebrates its town fiesta in honor of its patron saint, St. Vincent Ferrer, on May 2 and 3, according to the provincial tourism office; parish directories also list May 3 as the feast day. The Canoan Festival is the town's festival celebration. Its events, including a food street, have been held in the last week of April, and the provincial tourism office lists the festival on May 1 with a culinary festival called “Kan-anan ni Juan”. Larena was formerly known as Canoan, a name the Philippine Information Agency traces to the Visayan word kan-anan, meaning “eating place”; the festival takes its name from it. The local government revived the festival in 2023.
The 2023 revival included an inter-barangay volleyball tournament, a downhill biking event, a night market, an inter-town basketball tournament, a motocross cup, the Canoan Idol contest and a modern dance contest, with a food street festival every night from April 24 to 29. A street dance parade and showdown among high-school contingents presented the history and culture of Canoan as thanksgiving to God and the patron saint.
Visitor note: the program above is from the 2023 edition and later programs may differ; a Canoan food street party was reported again in late April 2025. Canoan Festival activities generally come before the fiesta days listed here. Dates and programs are set by the local government and parish each year and may change, so confirm them locally before planning a visit.
