About Visit Siquijor

A visitor guide to Siquijor, an island province in the Philippines, with six towns around a loop road of about 75 km

What this site is

Visit Siquijor puts what a visitor needs in one place: where to go, where to stay and eat, which fiestas and festivals are coming, how to get here, and who to call in an emergency.

What you will find

  • Places: beaches, waterfalls, churches, stays and places to eat in the six towns, with photos and, where we know it, what to check before you go
  • Events: fiestas and festivals, with their dates and places. When a date is not confirmed yet, the page says "Dates expected"
  • Guides and stories: getting here, where to base yourself, the six towns at a glance, what to eat, and the island's folk-healing tradition
  • Emergency services: the numbers for hospitals, police, fire, rescue and the Coast Guard, for each town

How the guides are written

The guides summarize published sources, such as the provincial tourism office, the Philippine Statistics Authority, travel guides and news reports, and say which is which. A legend is called a legend and a belief is called a belief. Entry fees, opening hours, ferry schedules and rental prices change, so each guide ends with what to check locally.

The island is nicknamed the Island of Fire. The guide to its names sets out where that name comes from and where the accounts disagree.
